NATION’S PRIME ORGANISATION, ‘MEDSCAPEINDIA’ PROPOSES TO HAVE HOSPITALS FOR DOCTORS' COMMUNIT

Dr. Sunita Dube

~ A PAN India approach by MedscapeIndia is focusing on the well being of the healthcare community ~

August 2020, Mumbai; Doctors around the globe have been working very hard in order to contain COVID-19 virus since the past six months. These health workers have left no stones unturned in leading the battle against COVID- 19. Leaving their lives and family behind, doctors are working round the clock to tackle every given challenge. Stress and exhaustion have affected the healthcare workers physically and mentally. They have been overworked for the last six months, many of them are working without a day’s leave. The job is so taxing as the Doctors have to treat critical patient, visit containment zones, deliver pregnant, symptomatic and other high-risk contacts, quarantine people, deal with corona positive patients and send them into home isolation, COVID Care Centres (CCC) or hospitals.

The concerns, efforts and dedication of the healthcare community, has further encouraged the team of MedscapeIndia, one of the leading organisations to form a ‘Doctor Welfare Committee’ with 5 core team with the support of the renowned MD Radiologist, Dr Sunita Dube. The healthcare committee is formed in order to acknowledge the job of our medical heroes also to save the lives of doctors who are saver of lives of many covid19 patients.

This initiative aims to reconsider the incentivization of the redraft of medical policies of the community.

The team will be introducing minimum 100 beds hospitals in association with Government especially designed for our doctors and medical staff who are fromboth Private as well Government sectors. The healthcare centres are said to be made up of the latest advanced technologies and medical equipments to provide superior healthcare facilities.

The Doctors Welfare Committee at MedscapeIndia has also highlighted this topic and written to the State Chief Ministers and Health Ministries of Delhi, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, and Karnataka. The issue has been acknowledged by a few states which will eventually help in speeding up the process in terms of allocation of hospitals and provision for funds as well.

In the first phase, the prime concern would be to target the states which have higher number of infected doctors and healthcare personnel. However, the facilities at these hospitals will focus on the health, insurance and safety of not only the healthcare community and their family members but will also be available to support the common public whenever in need.

It is observed that, under the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic, the deaths of healthcare professionals have been increasing as compared to the common public. The number of actual COVID-19 related deaths among doctors is accounted to be 7% to 10%, as they are exposed to the cases directly in hospital setups. They have neglected their own conditions in order to serve the Nation. Every segment be it police, army, navy, air force, railway among others avails customised medical facilities. However, Doctors being in their own field are not benefited equally and lack the privileged access due to current medical policies. As there hasn’t been any provision to ensure their own safety and that of their families, colleagues and staff, the team of MedscapeIndia comes forward to offer this special medical support.

The aim here is to reduce the percentage of the fatalities among the community, under the right to health and safety as any other citizen of country.

Commenting on the same, MD & Radiologist, Dr.Sunita Dube says, “My motto has always been to bring about a change in the society and contribute to make India a leading country in the world. Our honourable Prime Ministry has always focused on improvising the healthcare sector. With the ongoing pandemic, we have observed the sincerity, diligence and efforts of our health care providers. In order to save our lives, it is important that we take into account the primary concerns towards the welfare of our Doctors as well. At MediascapeIndia, we have formed a Doctors Welfare Committee to grant special norms to the healthcare community. The aim is to provide them equal rights on health & immediately reduction of death rate.

While we are all thinking about the post pandemic World, Dr. Dube, already has in place the agenda that can help to achieve the goals towards society.

Reskilling, Up-skilling Key CSR Tactics to Tackle a Post-Covid World: CII Panel

-          Panel Discusses Ways to provide an Atmanirbhar, Digitally Skilled and Inclusive Bharat

-          Experts Vouch for Online Learning Models to build a Sustainable Skilling Program

-          Digital platforms across Verticals like Healthcare, Education, Retail to Generate Significant Employment in Coming Quarters

New Delhi, August 27, 2020: Skill development is one of the best means to achieve sizeable impact and derive strategic imperatives from CSR agenda especially in the challenging times of COVID-19, according to an esteemed panel that discussed “Skill Development through CSR” in a webinar organized by CII, North Region. Digital platforms across verticals like healthcare, education, retail are expected to generate significant employment in coming quarters and the pace at which innovation in skill building is adopted to such online models is critical in the wake of new emerging realities.

Batting for strong inter-agency partnerships and bridging the digital divide, the panelists agreed that Covid has changed the way resources are allocated in CSR. The renewed focus is on employability that leads to employment which further leads to economic upliftment. India is aiming to become a 5 trillion-dollar economy and enjoys a strong advantage of vast and young demographic that stands at a crossover of digital leap. By 2023, 70 million more people will have entered India's workforce (data from the Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS) 2017-2018. Unemployment concerns have shot up in India off late due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

In his address Dr. Bhaskar Chatterjee Former Secretary, Government of India, and Former Director General & CEO- IICA, Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs said, “Covid-19 poses special challenges for skill development. Today when the world faces a crisis, the government, corporates and implementing agencies are turning to CSR. Promoting education, special education, employment-enhancing vocational skills is the need of the hour and our law has been successful in addressing that. Difficulty in skilling, re-skilling and people employment are some of the key challenges we need to address. Government must now act as a facilitator and encourage corporates to go more into the skill development. We also need to meet the dynamic needs of the employers by offering flexibility in the courses being designed, certifications being offered and the way we train our resources. The need of the hour is to tap into technology to leap-frog youth of today into employability.”

Brigadier P K Goyal (Retd), Conference Chair and Member, Regional Committee on Skill Development and Livelihood, CII Northern Region addressed the opening session, saying, “Covid-19 and the global lockdown has impacted the skills ecosystem, resulting in imbalance in the skills landscape. There is a dire need to skill, upskill and multi-skill a huge workforce so there is suitable employability. An effective means to do this is through CSR funds. Govt of India, the corporate industry with their funds and the implementing agencies along with consulting agencies are the umbilical link to an effective skilling programme.”

Lt Gen. Dr S P Kochhar, Director General – COAI (Cellular Operators Association of India) added, “A good thing, at present, is that the government has accepted that skilling is a challenge and they are trying to address the gap. We have been advising a skilling program which is Cooperative, Collaborative, Inclusive and Adaptive. If we use technology, such an initiative becomes easier. Training can be normalised across the country, using technology. We can combine Make in India, Digital India, and Skill India, as complementary models and CSR plays a major role in supporting this initiative. We can create co-skilling spaces, with soft and IT skills at the entry-level segment, generic sector skills at the next level of the segment, and the third level being the vaulted training centres where domain knowledge is imparted by industry experts.”

The webinar also included eminent speakers like Dr Sudhir Kapur, Chairman, Regional Committee on Skill Development & Livelihood, CII Northern Region, Ms Anita Rajan, CEO, Tata Strive, Mr R Anand, Principal Consultant & Advisor- HR, HCL Tech Ltd, Mr Chetan Kapoor, COO, Tech Mahindra Foundation, Ms Dhanashree Page Head Operations, Digital Inclusion, CSR, Capgemini India, Ms Romira Roy, Executive Director & Founder SEED, Mr Ashish Singh, Head – ITI Projects, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd, Ms Meenu Bagla, VP and CMO, Cyient Ltd, Mr Rahul Agarwal, AVP-Finance, Goodera, Mr Mahesh Munjal, Co-Chair Regional Committee on Skill Development and Livelihood, CII Northern Region & CMD, Majestic Auto and Mr Arun Nalavadi, ED- Sustainability and Partnerships, Magic Bus India Foundation.

Multi-Verse Technologies announce the launch of in:collab, the country’s digital address for safe & secured networking and collaborations

~A power-house network application built to discover, create, connect, communicate and collaborate, in a secured environment~

27th August 2020, National: Multi-Verse Technologies Pvt Ltd., backed with the expertise and knowledge of NxtGen Technology in deploying large scale technology stacks, data security and privacy; announce the launch of its first social initiative, in:collab. Citizens can now discover, create, connect, communicate, and transact on a secure end-to-end encrypted system amongst themselves, enterprises and governments. The company, Multi-Verse Technologies is founded with a vision to create use-cases from various advanced technologies like AI and computer vision today, makes its beta-application for general download and use.  Born out of the desire for citizens to take back control in the world of technology, enabling decentralized peer-to-peer or person-to-community collaboration sans the share of vital personal information and data breach, in:collab bridges the deficiencies across multiple social media applications.

While individual participation has been voluntary, we have undeniable digital rights – free speech, privacy and security. Centralized and proprietary architectures of the social media have created digital empires. in:collab disintegrates social media to a  decentralized system that by design enable citizen security and privacy. With no centralized storage of citizen generated content, there’s no possibility of analyzing and influencing user behaviors. To add, incollab will further pool resources from globally reputed security technology vendors to ensure protection for the application system. However, the security landscape is dynamic. To fortify digital safety, MultiVerse Technologies has also put into action a 24x7 content & application monitoring and incident response team, one which has already effectively and efficiently protected many organizations in India.

Social media is a boon similar to internet to the global citizens. We all behave differently in different environments, as a mother/father, a son/daughter, a friend, a colleague at work, we demonstrate multiple personas, that we feel correct in given environments. in:collab enables multiple segregated personas in one social media application. The application enables alliances of like-minded users across various select personas created to ensure complete user control over information shared, managed from one primary account. The ‘Persona’ feature (patent pending) is unique to in:collab, helps citizens to create multiple profiles under one authenticated user. Each persona allows citizens to create as well as personalize content and communication relevant to these specific groups, like a Public persona for general use, multiple Personal personas for friends and family, Work persona for professional peers, Circles persona for communities and interest groups as well as a Live-Local persona, a geo-local profile to engage and collaborate with local businesses and stores. The savvy UI is easy to use and supports seamless, secure data sharing within personas with in-app integrations of multi-media support that include video and voice data.

The Circles, Public, and Live-Local allows for collaboration of businesses and people across geographies. Live-Local, a proximity driven persona specifically caters to all small and local businesses offering them an equal opportunity discovery platform among more famously known global enterprises. The Circles persona allows users to actively engage, discover, and create groups and communities on the application for discussion and action. An appealing digital support that connects individuals with others sharing similar interests and supporting local businesses during these uncertain and socially distant times.

To further ensure complete citizen control and privacy of data, the app allows users to access a free dedicated 256-bit encrypted personal storage - 5GB vault for interesting content to be archived, vital documents, invoices, photos, and more. The Work persona additionally hosts the InfiniteVault™ allowing end-to-end backups that are synchronized across devices enabling secure file sync and sharing of any size across peers of an enterprise. Activity feeds is another highlight of the system with real-time information on the app that also hosts integrated AI algorithms and soon with fact-checkers to tag content for its authenticity and social acceptability. The goal not to curb free speech, but it is critical to ensure citizen awareness. A board of key experts, across domains will govern content that is published and used, even by Multi-Verse Technologies.

Lightweight, device-agnostic, and task-specific tools called Micro-Apps are integrated within the system application. Custom developed to modernize the existing & new applications. The adaptable UI and direct to customer-focused UX of in:collab can also benefit enterprises and governments to share content and engage with individuals directly in a holistic manner, ensuring optimum collaboration. In:collab is a system, where multiple things work together in a cohesive  inclusivity thereby facilitating direct to consumer interactions, allowing sellers to directly engage, interact and transact with their buyers. This peer-to-peer decentralized model is the new way to democratizing trade. Through this feature, Multi-verse technologies have attempted to create a democratic avenue for business, charging them for their presence.

The Live-Local feature will further empower the 4.2 Crore small businesses in India. The staggering 95% of total industrial units in the country employs 40% of India’s workforce. Live-local will now make it possible for these units to have their own eCommerce, direct-to-their customers. Local small traders can now engage consumers in close proximity and serve them just as a global platform would.

Social media allows us to connect with people, securely store and share media, fosters discussions, ideas, nurture hobbies, shop and trade. At launch, in:collab, allows the citizens to do almost all that one would on any social media, but importantly solves three issues that have plagued the social media.

1.       Not just moral intent, but architecturally solve the citizen security and privacy concerns, archive content to a Personal Vault. Eliminate the ability to analyze and influence users.

2.       Allow citizens to have multiple personas and have segregated interactions with groups created of their choice. Live a virtual life, as we do in reality.

3.       Allow businesses to interact directly with peer-to-peer transactions, providing wider choice to consumers and benefit the small businesses that operate in proximity to the individual.

In:Collab is the viable safe alternative for the social citizens, for enterprises and for governments.

Speaking on its launch, Mr. A.S . Rajgopal, Managing Director MultiVerse Technologies and MD, CEO of NxtGen Technologies said, “We are a society of complex and unique individuals. in:collab is built to empower individuals take control of their digital data as well as share and consume content on individual terms. The information visible across personas are at the discretion of the account user, and information on feeds can be quickly verified through fact-checker tagged content building on authentic and responsible consumption of knowledge. A company that believes in freedom across the digital universe, in:collab empowers users with a free 256-bit encrypted 5GB storage vault per account that is decentralized to ensure confidentiality and security of data stored. “Marriage is only a part of life and not a retirement sentence” says Kumkum Bhagya actress Pooja Banerjee

With the lockdown gradually lifting and people across the country stepping out into the new normal, Zee TV resumed shoots of its shows and it reconnected its audiences with the journeys of their beloved characters. Kumkum Bhagya, which has been one of the most popular shows on the channel, also offered a rather interesting twist to its viewers after its comeback. In fact, popular television actress Pooja Banerjee was also introduced as the new Rhea and she has brought quite a stir to the show. This beauty with brains has impressed everyone with her portrayal of the character and a rock-solid social stance.

Pooja Banerjee is a woman of virtue who strongly supports the thought of women having the opportunity to grow and advance their careers post marriage. The support she extends to this empowered belief, roots from an incident of her personal life. Pooja who has been married for almost 3 years now, recently revealed how she was advised against tying the knot owing to repercussions that might result in lesser roles.  Contrary to the myth prevalent in the industry about married actresses, Pooja has been on endless spree of roles working much more and constantly post her marriage. The actress truly

Believing that marriage and companionship is a need and a part of life and not a retirement sentence for a career-centric woman, Pooja Banerjee revealed,“I have grown up watching my mother juggle her career and her household tasks in such an effortless manner that her will power and sheer hard work inspired me to achieve and have all I want in life. After making it as an actress when I wanted to get married, my family was against it with the fear that it might lead to loosing out career opportunities. I somehow convinced my parents that getting married will never come in the way of me working, and if I am good enough and if I have talent and potential, I will get work. Well, I have been married for 3 years now and I have both, a flourishing career and a household too!”

Adding further, the actress said,“Most of us think, it’s too much for a woman to have and seamlessly handle both, a career and a household. Personally, I despise it and I support women with ambition and wanting to have a career even after getting married. I try to motivate all the girls out there who think marriage is a tag that implies an end to their career. Marriage is only a part of life and not a retirement sentence.”

While Pooja continues to inspire women around her, her character of Rhea is surely upto plotting something evil against Pragya!

Fantasy Sports Team Selection Requires Higher Skill Than Mutual Fund Management

Is It Luck or Skill?’ is a joint academic study by Prof. Vishal Misra & Prof. Devarat Shah from MIT and Columbia University

National, August 26, 2020:  Today, Researchers from MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) and Columbia University published a joint academic study titled Is It Luck or Skill?. The study applies tests to data obtained from Fantasy Sports platforms for cricket and basketball (2013 to 2016) and various Mutual Funds (2005 to 2018). The study conclusively demonstrates that luck plays a bigger role in the success of a Mutual Fund Manager compared to that of a Fantasy Sports player. The study includes over 16 million data points collected over 4 years.

The rigorous data-driven study, undertaken by the researchers at MIT and Columbia University, uses a robust statistical framework for evaluating the hypothesis of luck and applies a novel test that addresses the question of whether fantasy sports is a game of skill or luck. The study was performed by Prof. Vishal Misra, Columbia University, Prof. Devavrat Shah, MIT and Dr. Sudarsan V. S. Ranganathan from MIT.

Key Findings:

  1. The research study quantifies the degree to which fantasy sports and mutual funds relatively exhibit a predominance of skill
  2. Data as provided by Dream11 for this study strongly indicates a predominance of skill, in that luck may have more role to play in Mutual Fund Management than that in Team Selection in Fantasy Sports format as offered by Dream11 since the variance in skill is higher in Fantasy Sports than that in Mutual Fund Management.
  3. Dream11’s fantasy cricket data indicates a skill predominance by a factor of 10, while the mutual fund data indicates skill predominance by a factor of 3
  4. The hypothesis of luck playing a role in the fantasy sports team selection is overwhelmingly rejected. In particular, the data present strong evidence that the outcomes of fantasy sports (cricket and basketball) administered by the Fantasy Sports operators, like Dream11, are not driven by pure luck and skill has a predominant role to play
  5. The number of users in Dream11’s fantasy sport, with predominant skill, is at least 9x higher compared to that if skill had no role to play

Talking about the study, Vishal Misra, Professor in the Computer Science and Electrical Engineering Departments at Columbia University, said, “Online Fantasy Sports (OFS) is a rapidly growing industry, especially in India. Time and again the OFS industry has presented a challenge for the regulatory bodies across the globe: do they represent gambling or games of skill? Our mission was to address this question scientifically and devise a technique that can answer this question rigorously. Our analysis included data sets from Fantasy Sports as well as a vocation that requires significant analysis and research, Stock Market - Mutual Funds. Based on our comprehensive research with a data set containing millions of events, it is safe to say that picking a team for fantasy sports requires a significant amount of skill and the variations in skill levels of Fantasy Players exceeds that of the Mutual Fund Managers we analyzed.”

Talking about the methodology applied to the study, Devavrat Shah, Professor of Artificial Intelligence and Decision as well as Director of Statistics and Data Science at MIT, said, “The question of whether skill has a role to play in fantasy sports presented us with an opportunity to address age-old questions by developing novel mathematically grounded data-driven test: the failure of the test, as it happens to be the case data observed on Dream11 platform, undeniably establishes that their skill has significant enough role to play in the outcomes. Indeed, it makes sense to check whether mutual funds, which are traditionally considered to be driven by skill, do manage to fail such a test. But the intensity of failure in the context of Dream11, for example, is much more significant. That is, we are way more confident about the role of skill in the outcome of Dream11 compared to the performance of mutual funds!”

A similar study was undertaken by Dr. U Dinesh Kumar, Professor, Decision Sciences, IIM Bangalore in 2019 which, through a detailed analysis of the data set with sufficient evidence, established that Dream11’s format of fantasy sports is skill dominant. The inferences indicated that player selection has a huge influence on achieving high scores, therefore establishing that performance on the Dream11 platform is skill dominant. The students at IIM Bangalore also go through this unique case-study as a part of their curriculum (https://www.iimb.ac.in/iimb-research/case-studies). This case has been published in the Harvard Business Review and is available in 75 countries across more than 410 universities.
